Capitals, March 10 (SANA) Qatar and Jordan on Tuesday condemned a drone attack targeting the United Arab Emirates’ consulate in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, describing it as a violation of international law.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement carried by Qatar News Agency that targeting diplomatic missions constitutes a clear breach of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
The ministry said such attacks represent a serious escalation that threatens the safety of diplomatic personnel and undermines internationally recognized diplomatic norms.
Qatar expressed solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and voiced support for efforts aimed at strengthening security and stability in Iraq and the wider region.
Jordan also strongly condemned the attack. In a statement, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry called for respect for international law, including the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantee the protection of diplomatic missions and their personnel. The ministry reiterated Jordan’s solidarity with the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier on Tuesday, the UAE said its consulate in Iraq’s Kurdistan region had been targeted in a drone attack that caused material damage but no injuries.
