Baku, March 5 (SANA) Azerbaijan has evacuated its diplomatic staff from Iran following drone strikes that hit the Nakhchivan region.
Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told AFP that the evacuation includes staff from the embassy in Tehran and the consulate in Tabriz. He said he discussed the incident with his Iranian counterpart, who pledged a “thorough investigation.”
Azerbaijan said on Thursday that Iranian forces carried out drone attacks on Nakhchivan Airport and other civilian infrastructure, resulting in injuries and material damage. Baku also announced the full closure of truck and transit movement across all border crossings with Iran.
