Abu Dhabi stands with Ankara as NATO intercepts Iranian missile in Turkish airspace.

Abu Dhabi, March 9 (SANA) The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned on Monday the unprovoked attempt by Iran to target the Republic of Türkiye with a ballistic missile. This marks the second such incident in less than a week, involving a direct threat to the sovereign airspace of a NATO member state.

In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and carried by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the UAE affirmed that the persistent targeting of brotherly and friendly nations is condemned by all legal and political standards. The Ministry described the act as an “unacceptable escalation” that severely heightens regional tensions.

The UAE further characterized these hostile acts as a flagrant violation of state sovereignty and a direct threat to the security and stability of the entire region. “Such actions undermine international efforts toward de-escalation,” the statement added.

Earlier today, the Turkish Ministry of Defense confirmed that NATO air and missile defense assets stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean successfully intercepted and neutralized an Iranian ballistic missile after it entered Turkish airspace. Debris from the interception reportedly fell in vacant areas in the southeastern province of Gaziantep, with no casualties or significant injuries reported.

This latest escalation occurs amid the ongoing “Operation Epic Fury” campaign led by the U.S. and Israel, which has seen repeated retaliatory missile and drone launches from Iran targeting several nations across the Middle East.
