Doha/Manama, March 1 (SANA) Qatar and Bahrain said Sunday their air defense systems intercepted Iranian missiles and drones targeting their territories, as Gulf states faced a renewed wave of attacks amid escalating tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran.
Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said its armed forces successfully intercepted missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles launched toward its airspace. In a statement carried by the Qatar News Agency (QNA), the ministry said early warning systems detected the targets upon entering monitoring range and that they were tracked and neutralized in accordance with established rules of engagement.
The ministry said the interceptions were carried out under a fully operational integrated air defense system and that no casualties were reported. It added that Qatar continues to take all necessary measures to safeguard its territory and airspace.
In Bahrain, the National Communication Centre said the kingdom had intercepted a new wave of Iranian ballistic missiles and drones targeting its territory. The Bahrain News Agency reported that air defense systems destroyed the projectiles, noting that limited debris fell in several areas.

The centre described the attacks as a violation of Bahrain’s sovereignty and security and said readiness remained around the clock to counter any threats.
Earlier, the General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force said its air defenses had intercepted 45 missiles and nine drones since the start of the Iranian attacks.
The announcements come as several Gulf states reported Iranian missile and drone strikes following a joint U.S.-Israeli operation on Iranian territory, raising concerns over further regional escalation.
