Ankara, Jan.26 (SANA) Turkish Justice and Development Party (AKP) spokesman Omer Celik reiterated the need to preserve Syria’s unity and sovereignty.
According to Anadolu Agency, Celik said during a press conference held on Monday in Ankara following a meeting of the party’s executive committee chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that preserving a unified Syria and eradicating the region of terrorism are inseparable concepts.
He stressed that all components of the Syrian people must be equal partners in determining the future of their country.
Celik underlined the need for a model and political will in which all Syrians emerge as winners, based on the principle of “one Syria and one army,” ensuring equal rights for all.
He further stressed the importance of continuing the fight against the terrorist organization Daesh and thwarting any attempt to allow it to regain a foothold, noting at the same time that any stance contradicting Syria’s unity and its army poses a threat to both Syrian and Turkish national security, a vision he said is shared by both sides.
Celik also expressed appreciation for Decree No. 13 issued by President Ahmad al-Sharaa, which guarantees the rights and cultural identity of Syrian Kurds, describing it as having laid a legal foundation that recognizes pluralism and affirms that Syrian Kurds are an integral part of the country’s national fabric, following decades of marginalization.
Earlier this month, Celik said that Syria’s internal unity, social peace, sovereignty and territorial integrity constitute a top priority for Turkey and a key pillar for regional stability.
