Daraa, SANA- Minister of Health Dr. Musab al-Ali has inspected the operational reality and essential needs at the National Hospitals of Daraa and Nawa. He toured various departments of both hospitals and listened to officials, patients, and their families regarding major challenges and difficulties, as well as solutions to overcome them, contributing to improvements in healthcare services.

During his meeting with the medical staff at Daraa Hospital, al-Ali commended the significant efforts of healthcare workers across all governorates. He emphasized that the ministry’s plans will prioritize the governorates of Daraa, Damascus Countryside, and Deir Ezzor, given the extent of infrastructure damage in these areas.

Al-Ali highlighted Syria’s need for extensive efforts from its citizens during the state-building phase, explaining that work challenges are being addressed based on priorities and available resources, and budgets are being allocated for rebuilding healthcare facilities. He urged those concerned in public hospitals to present problems along with proposed solutions and to prioritize needs accordingly.

For his part, Daraa Governor Anwar Al-Zoubi underscored the importance of enhancing operations at health centers, which alleviate pressure on public hospitals by providing them with necessary staff and equipment. He also highlighted the pivotal role of the people of Houran in improving healthcare and service conditions through individual and community initiatives.

Dr. Aqla al-Hanfi, Director of Nawa Hospital, stated in statement to SANA, that the hospital’s condition is dire on all levels, suffering from severe shortages in medical supplies, equipment, and staff, which negatively affect its ability to meet citizens’ needs.

Dr. Nizar al-Rashdan, Director of Daraa Hospital, outlined some of the hospital’s challenges, including shortages of equipment and staff such as resident physicians, technicians, and nurses.

He also discussed ways to reinstate those who were dismissed during the former regime and the importance of resolving certain contractual issues with the private sector, which had halted the completion of renovation work at the hospital.
