Damascus, Feb.8 (SANA) – The Ministry of Health on Sunday launched a specialized surgical campaign for soft‑tissue tumor operations using Onco‑Vascular Surgery, as part of the national Shifa 2026 program, marking the first initiative of its kind in Syria and the Middle East.
The ministry said on its Telegram channel that the campaign is being carried out at Al‑Bayrouni University Hospital in Harasta, Rural Damascus, from February 8 to 12, under the ministry’s patronage and in cooperation with the Syrian Medical Association in Germany. The program is supervised by a team of international consultants from the United Kingdom and Germany, working alongside Syrian medical teams in an integrated treatment and training framework.
Onco‑Vascular Surgery is considered one of the most advanced surgical techniques for treating complex tumors involving major blood vessels, offering high‑level therapeutic options that meet global medical standards.
The initiative aligns with the Ministry of Health’s strategy to localize advanced medical technologies, transfer international expertise, and strengthen the capabilities of national medical staff.
Last year, the ministry launched several campaigns providing free specialized medical and surgical services to vulnerable communities across Syria.
