Texas, March 26 (SANA) Youssef Qablawi, the CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC), met with several global energy leaders today at the CERAWeek 2026 conference in Houston, Texas. The high-level discussions focused on mutual cooperation and investment opportunities in Syria’s revitalizing oil and gas sectors.
According to a company statement issued on Thursday, the talks were highly productive and included executives from prominent American energy firms, specifically Chevron and ConocoPhillips. These discussions build on a growing momentum for international energy partnerships in Syria, following the signing of a preliminary Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for offshore exploration earlier this February.
The CERAWeek conference, often referred to as the “Davos of Energy,” is currently taking place from March 23 to 27 under the theme “Convergence and Competition: Energy, Technology, and Geopolitics.” This year’s event has been heavily defined by the ongoing regional conflict in the Middle East, which has sent global oil prices toward $120 per barrel, underscoring the vital importance of securing new and stable energy supplies.
As the preeminent global energy forum, CERAWeek brings together CEOs, policymakers, and experts to navigate the intersection of energy security, technological innovation, and geopolitical shifts. The presence of the Syrian Petroleum Company at this forum marks a significant step in re-integrating the Syrian energy sector into the global market.
