Damascus, Aug. 19 (SANA) Syria and Saudi Arabia discussed expanding agricultural cooperation and investment opportunities during talks in Damascus on Wednesday, as the two countries seek to strengthen ties in food security and agricultural development.
Agriculture Minister Basel al-Suwaidan met Saudi Arabia’s chargé d’affaires in Syria, Abdullah al-Haris, to review the progress of projects being implemented in Syria by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), as well as previous meetings between the two sides, the Agriculture Ministry said on Telegram.
The talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in agriculture and developing initiatives aimed at supporting food security in both countries, the ministry said.
Al-Haris reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for expanding investment opportunities in Syria, particularly in the agricultural sector, and said Saudi businesspeople were interested in increasing their investments and exploring further opportunities for cooperation.
He also highlighted the longstanding ties between the Syrian and Saudi peoples and the importance of boosting bilateral relations and cooperation in ways that serve the interests of both countries.
