Energy Ministry, Saudi ACWA Power Discuss Cooperation on Renewable Energy Projects

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Energy Mohammed Al-Bashir held a video meeting with Mohammad A. Abunayyan, the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power,to explore prospects of joint cooperation in the renewable energy sector.
The talks focused on the establishment of a renewable energy power plant equipped with advanced storage systems. Both sides agreed to schedule a visit by an ACWA Power delegation to Damascus to finalize and sign cooperation agreements.
The meeting also addressed the development of a seawater desalination project, with discussions on how Syria could benefit from ACWA Power’s extensive expertise in the field to enhance water and energy security.

ACWA Power is a leading developer, investor, co-owner, and operator of power generation and desalinated water production plants across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, with its activities focusing on renewable energy, water, and green hydrogen projects. The Saudi-based company utilizes a comprehensive “Develop-Invest-Operate-Optimize” business model to manage assets throughout their entire lifecycle, aiming to supply essential services and contribute to economic growth and sustainability.
