Moscow, SANA- Russian defense Ministry announced on Thursday that a helicopter for the Russian air force came under fire of mortar shells by terrorists in the north western side of Palmyra.
“The helicopter made an urgent landing while carrying out a trip in order to deliver humanitarian aid to a village located nearly 40 km to the north-western part of Palmyra,” the Ministry said in a statement.
It added that the helicopter came under fire of mortar shells by unknown terrorists.
It affirmed that there were no causalities in the crew of the helicopter and they were taken to Hmeimem air base through a relief helicopter, adding that the first helicopter was subjected to big damages that prevented it from taking off.
