Russian Defense Ministry: Resuming Aleppo humanitarian pause needs international organizations’ guarantees

Moscow, SANA – Russian Defense Ministry reaffirmed the readiness of Moscow and Damascus to resume the humanitarian pause in Aleppo if the international organizations provide guarantees of their readiness to let the civilians and the injured leave the eastern neighborhoods of the city.

Spokesman of the Ministry Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said in a statement on Wednesday that the “Russian Federation together with the Syrian authorities are ready to resume the humanitarian pause in Aleppo on receiving international organizations’ guarantees of readiness to lead ill and injured people and civilians out of the militant-controlled districts of the city.”

Konashenkov clarified that the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force are observing a moratorium on flights which are closer than 10km to the city for the eighth day.

Civilians who are leaving the city may use six humanitarian corridors which are open 24/7 and points for distributing meals and medical aid, according to Konashenkov.
