Damascus, SANA – Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi asserted the government’s keenness to provide medical services to all areas, including those where terrorist groups spread and block access to food and medical aid.
During his meeting with the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Ala Alwan, al-Halaqi said the cabinet is keen to enhance the opportunities of cooperation with the WHO in all fields.
The Premier valued the organization’s efforts in providing health and logistic support to the Syrian people especially in terms of providing vaccines, chronic disease drugs and ambulance vehicles, hailing also the WHO contribution to securing medical equipment needed for the wounded, in addition to digging drinking water wells and water sterilization, particularly in Aleppo province.
For his part, Alwan appreciated the efforts exerted by the Syrian government to develop the health sector and provide the medical requirements for the citizens.
In the same context, Health Minister Nizar Yazigi discussed with Alwan means of boosting coordination between the two sides and setting up a vision for implementing joint health programs to meet the growing health needs of the Syrian people.
Yazigi pointed out during the meeting that the Ministry will work to include the bivalent anti polio vaccine within the national vaccination program.
