HJCE establishes polling stations for a number of provinces

Damascus, SANA-The Higher Judicial Committee for Elections (HJCE) announced on Monday that it decided to establish polling stations for the upcoming parliamentary elections in a number of provinces.

In a press conference on Monday, head of the HJCE Judge Hisham al-Shaar said that the decision includes establishing polling stations for Idleb electoral constituency in the provinces of Damascus, Hama, Lattakia, Aleppo and Tartous, and polling stations for Raqqa province in Damascus, Hama, Lattakia, Tartous and Hasaka, and for Aleppo province in Aleppo, Damascus, Lattakia and Tartous, and for Deir Ezzor province in Deir Ezzor, Damascus and Hasaka, and for Daraa province in Daraa, Damascus, Damascus countryside and Sweida.

Al-Shaar affirmed that the Committee is independent, adding that the elections will be held in the safe areas and under full judicial supervision in order to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.

Answering a question about displaced people due to terrorism and the Syrian expats, al-Shaar said that any Syrian can come to Syria and take part in the electoral process with full transparency, pointing out that casting ballots can only take place inside Syria.
