South African companies’ participation in Syria reconstruction process discussed

Damascus, SANA – Industry Minister Kamal Eddin Tu’meh discussed on Sunday with Ambassador of South Africa in Damascus Shaun Byneveldt the possibility of South African companies participating in the reconstruction process in Syria.

It is important to benefit from the expertise and technologies possessed by South African companies in launching the reconstruction process and establishing joint projects, said the Minister.

He referred to a MoU draft prepared by the Ministry and sent to the South African government that includes areas of industrial cooperation between the two sides and cites national industrial projects that need to be activated, hoping that the South African side will study the MoU and approve it.

He also expressed his wish that projects be studied carefully and agreed on so as to start legal procedures for implementation. South Africa Ambassador-Industry Minister 2

In his turn, Byneveldt said his government has already started studying the MoU draft, noting that the Embassy will hold a symposium in Damascus on March 30 to market the businesses of South African companies to which the Syrian Industry Ministry is invited.
