Aircraft movement resumed at Kwairis Airport, army continues targeting terrorists

Provinces, SANA- Army continued targeting the terrorist organizations’ gatherings, hideouts and hotbeds in many areas across the country, eliminating scores on their members and injuring others.

Aircraft movement resumed at Kwairis Military Airport

For the first time in over three years, military helicopters for the Syrian Arab Army took off from Kwairis Military Airport in Aleppo province on Tuesday, signaling its return as a strategic springboard for operations against ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra, and other terrorist organizations.

The airport’s return to operational status was announced by a military source who confirmed that military helicopters took off from the site which is located 40km east of Aleppo city. Training activities has also resumed in the nearby Air Force Academy.

Commander of the Airport Gen. Munzer Zammam asserted commitment to continuing the fight against terrorism, saying that the airport is back in service thanks to the valiance of its garrison which repelled constant attacks by ISIS for three years.

The stalwart defense of the airport’s garrison motivated the army forces that were working to break the siege imposed on the airport, eventually succeeding in this effort under the leadership of Col. Suhail Hassan, and afterwards these forces went on to secure the surroundings of the airport and the academy established control over the nearby villages, farms, and the international highway.

Damascus Countryside

An army unit carried out dealt heavy blows to terrorist dens in Erbin town in Damascus Countryside, field sources told SANA reporter.

The sources added the army unit operation ended up with destroying a rocket launch-pad and a site for so called “Jaish al-Islam” and the killing of many terrorists, including Bassel Abu Shanab, Mohamed al-Domani and Hayl al-Hussein.

Meanwhile, another army unit killed 6 terrorists, injured 13 others and destroyed their ammunition and weapons in Zamlka town.

Terrorists Abd al-Rahman al-Bunni, Samir al-Idlbi, Fawaz al-Ajal, Abad al-Rahman al-Afandi and Hussein al-Smadi were killed during army’s operations in Saqba town.

Army units also continued their operations against terrorist organizations in the southern part of Eastren Ghouta, killing many terrorists including Mwafak al-Laban, leader of a terrorist group, Moheedin al-Sawan, Mohamed Dabour and Jihad Daas on the road which connects between Jisrin village and al-Nashabia town to the north of Marj al-Sultan.

Aleppo

A military source told SANA that army units targeted gatherings of ISIS terrorists in Tal Istabl, Nejarah and Rasem al-Kabir in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, destroying their mechanism and gatherings with all weapons and ammunition on their board.

Army units, in cooperation with the backing units, targeted the terrorist organizations in Rasel al-Sahrij and Abad in the southwestern countryside of the province, inflicting heavy losses upon them in personnel and equipment.

The army operations against the terrorist organizations in Khan al-Assal left a number of terrorists dead and injured and inflicted heavy losses upon them in personnel and equipment.

The army units destroyed the terrorist organizations’ machineguns-equipped vehicles in al-Atareb, 30 km south of Aleppo city.

An army unit destroyed Jabhat al-Nusra weapons and equipment after targeting their hideouts in al-Ameriyeh village.

In Aleppo city, the army units destroyed Jabhat al-Nusra-linked terrorist organizations’ hotbeds in the neighborhoods of al-Sheikh Lutfi, Hanano, Karm al-Tahhan and al-Jazmati.

In the same context, the army’s air force carried out sorties targeting ISIS fortified positions and gatherings of terrorists in Shweilikh and Sharbaa villages in the eastern countryside of Aleppo province.

Airstrikes also hit ISIS sites in Eisheha village in al-Bab area.

The source told SANA that numbers of terrorists were killed in those areas.

Homs

The army targeted positions for ISIS terrorists in Jabal al-Hayal and in the surrounding of al-Bayarat area, 10 km west of Palmyra city, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists in personnel and vehicles.

The army’s air force conducted several sorties launching strikes on movements of ISIS terrorists and their supply routes in al-Sukhneh, located on Homs-Deir Ezzor highway to the east of Tadmur (Palmyra).

The airstrikes destroyed a number of ISIS centers and vehicles, some equipped with machine guns.

Other ISIS positions were targeted in army airstrikes to the southeast of Homs city and specifically in al-Qaryatain city and Mhein town. Numbers of terrorists were killed as a result.

In the northern countryside of Homs, the air force targeted fortified sites and hideouts for Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists in Teirmaala village and Talbiseh town, and in Izz-Eddin town near the southern border of Hama.

Hama

The army’s air force also targeted centers and positions for ISIS terrorists in Qteisheh village in the countryside of Salamiyeh in Hama province.

The military source confirmed that a number of vehicles at the sites were destroyed in the airstrikes.

Intensive army airstrikes were launched on hideouts for terrorists from Jaish al-Fatah in al-Latamneh and Lahaya villages, 35 km north of Hama city, leaving a number of the terrorists dead and their vehicles destroyed.

Daraa

Head of “House of Justice Court in Horan and Quneitra” killed in Daraa

In southern Syria, an army unit targeted gatherings of terrorists to the east of the Nursing School in Daraa al-Mahatta area in Daraa city, killing a number of them, injuring others and destroying their ammo and weapons.

More terrorists’ positions were also targeted in other areas in Daraa al-Mahatta.

Meanwhile, terrorist organizations acknowledged on Tuesday the killing of the terrorist Osama al-Yatim, who was the head of the so-called “House of Justice Court in Horan and Quneitra,” a group which includes members of terrorist organizations such as “al-Mouthna Islamic Movement” and Jabhat al-Nusra.

Terrorist organizations said on their social media pages that al-Yatim was killed in Daraa countryside along with four of his companions in the explosion of a roadside bomb, which was planted by unknown parties on the road between Daraa and Sieda town.
