38 thousand Captagon tablets seized, gang members arrested in Lattakia

Damascus, SANA – The Drug Combating Department in Lattakia seized 38 thousand Captagon tablets and arrested a number of drug pushers.

Lattakia Police Chief Yaser al-Shreiti told SANA that some of the narcotic pills were found hidden inside a car and the remaining amount was found in a house belonging to one of the persons involved.

While a number of the drug gang members were arrested, interrogation is still under way to reach the other members, al-Shreiti said.

On November 19th, authorities in Lattakia seized about 8000 Captagon tablets in the countryside of Jableh area.

In a relevant context, the Police Chief said 3 members of a gang involved in imposing tax on fruit and vegetable traders and transport vehicle owners in al-Hal Souk wholesale food markets in Lattakia and Jableh cities wefe arrested.
