Moscow, SANA – Russian President Vladimir Putin called upon the Russian army personnel to preserve the momentum of the operations against the armed terrorist groups in Syria.
During his meeting with senior officials of the Russian Ministry of Defense in Moscow on Friday, President Putin said the current operations will be intensified.
He also tasked the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces to make regular reports on the missions and progress made by the Russian army in Syria.

In turn, Russian Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu reported that the Russian warplanes carry out 143 sorties per day, adding that the four last days witnessed deployment of cruise missiles that have been launched from the Mediterranean and the Caspian seas, these missiles traveled about 1,500 km before reaching their destinations in a number of Syrian provinces.
He said 29 strategic airplanes took off from the Caspian, adding that the Tupolev Tu-160 strategic planes flew for over 13,000 km before successfully hitting their targets.
Shoygu revealed that the Russian weaponry involved in the operations include 10 ships, six of which stationed in the Mediterranean, and 69 airplanes.
The Russian Minister said the Caspian fleet has fired 18 cruise missiles on terrorist locations in Raqqa, Idleb, Aleppo and other provinces.
In a related context, the kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that Moscow is not planning for a land operation in Syria.
He highlighted that there is no discussions on launching a land operation.
