President al-Assad condoles President Putin on victims of plane crash

Damascus, SANA – President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday sent a cable of condolences to the  Russian President Vladimir Putin over the victims of the doomed Russian plane that crashed yesterday in Sinai in Egypt.

President al-Assad expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the Syrian people and on his own behalf, saying “Your Excellency President and friend Vladimir Putin of Russia… with deep sorrow, we have learned the news of the Russian plane crash which was flying from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg and we offer you the deepest feeling s of condolences.”

President al-Assad also wished the friendly people of Russia and the Russian President health and prosperity.

Earlier on Saturday, President Putin decreed Sunday, Nov 1st,  a day of mourning all over the country on the 224 victims of the plane crash.

Russian Embassy in Cairo said Saturday  that all 224 people on board the Russian plane, crashed in Sinai Egypt, were killed.
