Tehran, SANA- Activities of the 8th General Assembly of Islamic Radios & televisions Union (IRTVU) were launched Sunday morning in Tehran with the participation of regional and international media establishments and figures.
Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi, who met Iranian Political and media officials in Tehran Friday and Saturday, is heading Syria’s media delegation to the conference which lasts for three days.
Velayati: Syria is the golden ring of the resistance axis
Syria represents the golden ring of resistance axis, Ali Akbar Velayati, Advisor to Iranian Supreme leader said Sunday at the opening of the activities of the General Assembly meeting .
Velayati pointed out that the fierce terrorist war hatched against Syria was due to its pivotal role in the resistance axis, asserting that the United States aimed at breaking this ring, but it failed.
He underlined that they believed that during few weeks they would be able to topple the legitimate government in Syria, but they failed thanks to the resilience of the Syrian people and wisdom of their leadership.
The Iranian official pointed out that more than 80 countries across the world participate in the conspiracy against Syria, in addition to opening the borders by Syria’s neighboring countries, to allow the flow of the terrorists into it.
The situation would be different in Iraq, Lebanon and the whole region, except for the failure of the American scheme in Syria, Velayati went on to say, stressing that part of terrorists, who come to Syria, are of the American “Water Black” group, who had committed heinous crimes against the Afghani people, and today they aim at creating new group to terrify the Muslims and Christians in the region.
He criticized the silence of some friendly countries towards the conspiracy hatched against Syria and aims at partitioning it, elaborating that “there is no moderate and extremist terrorists among those who come to Syria as all of them are terrorists”.
He hailed journalists role in resisting the global arrogance, calling them to keep with the events taking place in the Islamic world, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, urging the IRTVU to play a pioneer role in this regard.
Karimian: necessity of cooperation to confront threats of terrorism and Takfiri thought
For his part, IRTVU Secretary General Ali Karimian asserted the necessity of cooperation in the fields of media and news to confront threats of terrorism and Takfiri thought, and to highlight crimes of terrorists, their supporters and financiers.
“Everyone must work to stop spreading the Takfiri terrorist thought”, Karimian said at the opening ceremony, pointing out the undergoing conditions of the region due to the crimes perpetrated by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS (terrorist organization.
He affirmed that Iran is still persistent in supporting peoples exposed to terrorism in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
Al-Zoubi: The Syrians adhere to their leadership and every inch of Syria’s territory
In the same context, Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said on Sunday any political track that affects the Syrian people’s decision and government would be meaningless and doomed to failure.
“We the Syrians will defend our Syrian national choice,” he said in a speech during the opening ceremony.
No matter how long the war is and how much it costs, al-Zoubi added, “we in Syria have an absolute, strong and final will that the Syrian Arab Republic will remain under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad unless the Syrians wish otherwise.”
He affirmed that the Syrians adhere to their leadership and homeland. “We will not allow cutting out any inch of the Syrian territories even if we would have to fight forever.”
IRTVU is a non-governmental international organization established by Iran and has about 230 members.
Activities of the meeting are scheduled to include inaugurating a photographic Islamic news agency and unveiling of “Halal Media” new brand for cinema and television productions.
A global prize under the name of (Global Media Union Award) is also scheduled to be dedicated to a prominent artistic and media figure that had great role in making known the issues of human and society through his elegant artistic works.
