More than 51,000 non-food items provided by UNHCR arrive in Hasaka

Hasaka, SANA – More than 51,000 non-food items provided by the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) have arrived in the northeastern Hasaka province through Nusaybin border crossing to be distributed to displaced families and others in need.

Issam al-Hussien, Director of the Social Affairs Department in Hasaka, told SANA that the aid supplies include 25,000 blankets, 15,000 mats, 5,000 rain coatings, 3,000 boxes of detergents and sanitary stuff and 3,000 boxes of kitchen utensils, in addition to 750 mattresses.

Al-Hussien said the supplies will be distributed according to a relief plan approved by the committees in charge of folowing up on the situation of displaced families. Some of the aid will be given to the Iraqi families staying at Ain al-Khadra camp in al-Malekiyeh city.

Last July, the UNHCR, in cooperation with the parties concerned in Hasaka province, distributed more than 5300 non-food items to needy families.
