Damascus, SANA- Members of a French tourist group, which is currently visiting Syria, expressed solidarity and support to the Syrian government and leadership, stressing that they don’t represent the French policy, but they represent the French people and that they will convey a true image about the terrorism and destruction in Syria.
“I came to Syria because I love it and its people and to express our support, as French people, to the Syrians.” Member of the Medical Advisory Council in Paris Joe Mbol said while touring the Tekkiye Suleymaniye historic Souq in Damascus.
Assistant of disabled children Marie Noel said that she visited Syria five years ago before the war against it, indicating that her visit today came to “support Syria and its people in the current circumstances.”
“What is taking place in Syria is very tragic and painful… We came to voice our support to the Syrians and to convey a true image to the French people through sharing the harsh circumstances with the Syrian people,”Former French nurse Daniel said.
She indicated that Syria is a holy land and the civilization of the West and the Europeans have been derived from it.
Minister of Tourism Bishir Yazagi stressed, while meeting the French tourist group, that many of the Western delegations have returned to visit Syria on official and popular levels, indicating that the stances of the states on popular level have become very clear through the parliamentary and popular delegations which visit Syria to express solidarity with it.
“There are Syrian ambassadors across the world and today all the visitors who come to Syria are ambassadors of reality and right,” Minister Yazagi said, calling for conveying a true image about Syria without any distortion.
He indicated that Syrians are the only ones who know the nature of life in Syria and today they are in a challenge to continue their natural life and their resilience is manifested through the tourist sector and other economic walks of life.
“Tourism in Syria hasn’t stopped and the Syrian expatriates and journalists are returning to the homeland, and they are the ones who will convey a true image,” Yazagi affirmed, pointing out that over the last period, there has been an increase in the foreigners’ number in Syria.
