Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister Bassam Sabbagh received on Thursday a copy of credentials of Ambassador Ashraf Suleiman as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to the Syrian Arab Republic.
Sabbagh welcomed the new ambassador and congratulated him on his appointment as ambassador to Syria, noting to the strength of the historical relations between the two friendly countries and peoples, and praised South Africa’s position in supporting the just causes of the peoples, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, which was recently demonstrated in South Africa’s position at the International Court of Justice to end the impunity of the Israeli entity for committing war crimes and genocide against the Palestinian people.
In turn, Ambassador Suleiman stressed his determination to work on enhancing cooperation between Syria and South Africa to include broader areas that serve the common interests of the two countries.
