Damascus, SANA-Secretary General of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party, President Bashar al-Assad, participated on Saturday in the broadened meeting of the central Committee of the party, held at the Conferences’ Palace in Damascus.
The meeting agenda will elect members of the central committee and a new central leadership.
The meeting comes as a third phase in continuation of the democratic process launched by President al-Assad, Secretary-General of the party, at the Central Committee meeting held in the beginning of this year.
In his remarks during the meeting, President Al-Assad spoke about “the concept of the party’s relationship with power, the review of the party’s internal regulations, the role of the Central Committee as the main nerve of the party, the role of the supervisory committee and party inspection and the accountability process within the party.”
President Al-Assad also addressed the importance of developing the organizational structure as a national and also a party need, and the socialist approach, between ideology, on the one hand, and economic norms, on the other.
President Al-Assad pointed that, in these circumstances in which the entire world is witnessing wars of a cultural and ideological nature, ideological parties become much more important than before, and not as was promoted three decades ago, that the era of ideologies has ended and that the era of parties has come to an end.
President Al-Assad added that the party’s vision, specifically regarding internal issues, is based on socialism to achieve social justice.
