Syria, Sri Lanka discuss means to boost cooperation in trade and economic fields

Damascus, SANA- Syria and Republic of Sri Lanka discussed on Monday means to bolster cooperation relations in various commercial and economic fields in a way that would serve the interests of the peoples of the two friendly countries.

That came during a meeting that brought together Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Minister, Mohsen Abdul Karim Ali and Ambassador of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Syria, Kapila Jayaweera, and Sri Lankan Honorary Consul in Syria Dr. Mohamed Mousallam Al Droubi.

Minister Ali shed light on the deep-rooted historical relations binding the two countries, underscoring the importance of continuing to boost and enhance them at various levels in a way that would ensure overcoming the current challenges in a world that has become in need for effective partnerships and economic cooperation that would achieve true integration in all development tracks.

For his part, Ambassador Jayaweera affirmed readiness to work to strengthen bilateral relations in all fields, noting the Syrian positions towards the Sri Lankan people over many years at all levels.
