Cairo, SANA-Syria’s permanent representative to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Hussam al-Din Ala, said Monday that Syria categorically rejects attempts to liquidate the Palestinian issue, stressing the necessity to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza and support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people by breaking siege imposed on Gaza Strip and delivering the humanitarian aid to its residents.
“The Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip is part of a broader image as we mustn’t forget the need to end the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the rest of the occupied Arab territories,” Ala said in a speech before the fifth session of the Arab ministerial Council on Population and Development.
He added that the cancer of the occupation is the core of the problem and what is happening today in Gaza, despite its ugliness and brutality, is one of the outcomes of this epidemic that must be confronted collectively and effectively.
As for Syria, Ala referred to the steps taken by the Syrian government, over the past years and recently, to restore security and stability and facilitate the return of its displaced people to their homeland in cooperation with friendly countries and partners in the humanitarian task.
