Damascus, SANA- Minister of Transport, Zouhair Khzeim, discussed with Iranian Ambassador in Damascus, Hussein Akbari and an accompanying delegation means of enhancing mutual cooperation in the transport filed.
Talks, during the meeting held on Tuesday, focused on implementing the agreements signed between the two countries and following up on the understandings reached recently in the transport sectors.
The two sides stressed the need for developing cooperation in various areas of transport – including air, maritime, road and railways.
They also discussed the potential of building a railway line running through Iran, Iraq and Syria, given the importance of Syria’s geographic location in the strategic transport map.
The tripartite railway link will serve transporting passengers and goods among the three countries and increase commercial and tourism exchange.
Both sides also agreed to facilitate travel procedures and services provided to aircraft and passengers at the airports of the two countries as well as exploring new areas to foster cooperation in maritime transport and shipping routes between ports in both countries.
