Mikdad receives credentials of WFP Representative in Syria

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, received Thursday a copy of credentials of Kenneth Ray Crossley as the Representative of the UN World Food Program (WFP) in Syria.

Both sides stressed the importance of enhancing the historical relationship between Syria and WFP to deliver aid to the Syrian people.

Mikdad stressed the Program’s significant role in assisting Syrians, noting to the need of moving forward for more early recovery support, especially in the power and water projects as stipulated in Security Council resolution No.2642.

“Had not been exposed to unilateral coercive measures along with the destruction left by terrorist groups and the thefts of its resources by U.S. occupation force, Syria would have been a role model to the entire region in development as it was before the war”, Minster Mikdad stated.

Crossley affirmed his pride in the opportunity granted to him as the WFP Representative in Syria, considering that his responsibility is great to build on the achievements been reached before and to push for more work to deliver aid to the Syrians in an optimal way.

Crossley listened to the priorities of the Syrian government and presented his aspects of cooperation that can be built upon, thanking the Syrian side for the support offered to the Program .

“I am looking forward to cooperating with the Syrian authorities to expand the program work” ,the representative asserted.
