Syrian-Iraqi talks on developing cooperation in higher education

Baghdad, SANA- Iraq’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Nabil Kazem Abdel-Saheb discussed with Syrian Ambassador to Iraq Sattam Jadaan al-Dandah , ways of developing bilateral cooperation in higher education, scientific research and cultural and academic exchange.

“Both sides discussed prospects for scientific and academic cooperation and framing cultural exchange programs in the context of understanding between Iraqi and Syrian institutions of higher education and scientific research” The Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education said in a statement.

Abdul-Saheb stressed the keenness of Iraq and its academic institutions to develop coordination and development paths for cultural exchange and sustainable academic cooperation, in addition to the readiness of Iraqi universities to host Syrian students, providing and exchanging scholarships” the statement said .

Ambassador Al-Dandah stated a declaration to SANA’s reporter in Baghdad that “the meeting dealt with strengthening cooperation between Syria and Iraq’s universities, research centers and educational institutions, exchanging visits and students’ participation in various scientific activities”.

Al-Dandah said that “the meeting resulted in an agreement to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Syria and Iraq regarding the admission of students to universities and the exchange of scholarships for postgraduate studies between the two countries”.
