Mikdad discusses with Abdollahian bilateral relations, regional and international developments

Tehran, SANA-Foreign and Expatriates Minsiter, Fayssal al-Mikdad, discussed with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran Wednesday bilateral relations and ways to develop them in all domains, in addition to regional and international developments.

Abdollahian briefed Mikdad on the outcomes of the summit of the guarantor states of the Astana process (Russia, Iran and Turkey) held in Tehran Tuesday, and the bilateral meetings conducted on the sidelines, referring to its final statement which stressed the unity, sovereignty and independence of Syria and rejected all attempts to target it, with a focus on moving forward in the fight against terrorism and the implementation of agreements concerning the de-escalation zones and the condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Syrian territory.

Abdollahian referred to the clear stance of Sayyed Ali Khamenei, Supreme leader of the Islamic revolution in Iran in rejecting any military operation against the unity and integrity of the Syrian territories, and his assertion that such an operation would harm the interests of Syria and Turkey, destabilize security and stability in the region and serve the terrorists.

He also referred to the efforts exerted by President Ebrahim Raisi during the summit.

Mikdad, for his part, appreciated the decisive stances announced by Khamenei and Raisi regarding developments in Syria and the great support provided by Iran to Syria in all fields, stressing that Syria will continue to make all possible efforts to end the occupation and combat terrorism and work to facilitate and encourage the return of the displaced to their homes and villages.

He stressed the importance of moving forward in the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the economic and trade fields, in the interest of the two friendly peoples.
