Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, reaffirmed his country’s stance in support of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying that Russian forces are there in Syria upon a request from its legitimate government.
“The Russian forces’ existence in Syria is in a state of full compliance with the UN principles and charter and they perform duties outlined in resolution 2254,” Lavrov told RT in an interview on Thursday.
Lavrov added that solution to the crisis in Syria will only be realized through respecting its sovereignty and regional safety.
“We will support the Syrian leadership in its efforts to regain the territorial integrity on the Syrian Arab Republic,” lavrov stressed.
