Syrian National Team to participate in Arab Weightlifting Championship in Jordan

Damascus, SANA- The Syrian national weightlifting team will participate in the Arab Weightlifting Championship (men and women) to be held in Jordan from February 15 to 20.

The national team has been preparing for the championship from two months ago through holding a closed training camp for men at al-Fayha sport city in Damascus, in addition to holding another training camp for women in Hama province supervised by coach Mohammad Rasha.

Damascus training camp includes six players, of which four will be selected to participate in the competitions of the championship according to certain tests while women training camp embraces two weightlifters Thurayya Subih and Nahil Dyiab.

The championship was due to be held in Morocco last December, yet it was later postponed to open the door for more Arab teams to participate in it.

The Syrian team had participated in the Arab Weightlifting Championship which was held in Tunisia last October and it harvested 27 various medals.
