Moscow, SANA- Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has proven its effectiveness and made a significant contribution to the fight against terrorism, cross-border crime and other threats and challenges to international security.
Putin’s remarks came in a message to the participants in the jubilee plenary session of the Assembly, which was read by the President of the Assembly Council, President of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, according to Russian Today website.
In his message, Putin noted that in recent years, within the framework of the Assembly, a lot has been done to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic, social and humanitarian fields and to overcome the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Russian President called on the participants to continue to mobilize collective efforts to combat terrorism, drug smuggling, cross-border crime and threats to international security.
