Syria participates in the 2nd UN Global Sustainable Transport Conference, China

Damascus, SANA- The second United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference kicked off in Beijing, China, with participation of nearly 50 countries, including Syria.

The conference, which opened on Thursday , is being held via videoconference, and it will last until 16 th October.

Discussions during the conference addressed the importance of transport as a way to connect world countries and civilizations, and the need for international cooperation on sustainable transport issues.

Providing support and funding required for development projects in the developing countries and inviting the private sector to offer resources, technology and renewable energy in sustainable transport were also discussed.

The conference, which was attended by Transport Minister Zouheir Khzeim also touched upon the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the sustainable transport which affected the programs designed to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
