Nationwide anti-polio vaccination campaign targets around 2.7 million children

Damascus, SANA- The second nationwide anti-polio vaccination campaign for the year 2021 was launched by the Health Ministry on Sunday.

The five-day campaign targets nearly 2.780 million under-five children, regardless of previous vaccinations through health centers and mobile teams, while taking precautionary measures to address the novel Coronavirus.

The children will be vaccinated for free through 967 health centers and 1,700 mobile teams with the participation of 9,460 health workers.

The vaccine protects the children and society from dangerous polio disease, which leads to permanent disability or death.

The symptoms of common cold, cough, diarrhea, simple fever, physiological jaundice, or use of antibiotics don’t prevent the vaccination.
