Damascus, SANA – Participants in the 11th Islamic Scholars Forum, which was held at Al-Assad Library in Damascus, discussed the invasive takfiri phenomenon and religious extremism, as well as the role of scholars in curbing extremism.
Minister of Religious Endowments (Awqaf) Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed stressed the importance of organizing this forum to discuss the takfiri war waged on Syria, Islam, and the resistance, reiterating that the Syrian people and army’s steadfastness in the face of the conspiracy targeting their country.
He called upon Islamic scholars to spread the true essence of Islam and face all falsification and distortion attempts by takfiri Wahabis.
The participants called for combining efforts and unifying ranks to confront the enemies of Islam and foil all attempts to spread sectarian strife and division.
The role of scholars in rationalizing dialogue, objectivity in understanding religion, and facing intellectual extremism were also on the table.
The forum is organized by the Bureau of Imam Khamenei in Syria, in cooperation with the Ministry of Religious Endowments and the Iranian Cultural Chancellery in Damascus.
