Contact lost with plane in Russia’s Far East, 27 passengers on board  

Moscow, SANA- The Russian emergency services announced today that contact with an Antonov-26 plane with 27 people on board was lost in Kamchatka in Russia’s Far East.

The An-26 was flying from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Palana in the Kamchatka Peninsula when it did not make a scheduled call-in, Russia today quoted the emergency services as saying.

It indicated that six of the 27 onboard included six crew members and that there was one child among the passengers.

It added that a search had been launched involving at least two helicopters and rescue workers were on standby.

A number of people were killed and others were injured in the crash of an L-410 plane on June 19^th in Russia’s Kemerovo region.
