Health Minister discusses with president of ICRC work of the committee in Syria

Damascus, SANA- Health Minister, Hassan al-Ghabbash, discussed with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer, and an accompanying delegation the committee’s work in Syria and means of boosting the health cooperation.

During the meeting, Ghabbash stressed the need to uplift the level of health coordination with the Ministry aimed at achieving the best and speedy response, especially in light of containing Covid-19 pandemic, referring to the importance of raising the voice to stop the economic siege and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria which affect the citizens’ health and livelihood.

The Minister expressed appreciation for the committee’s work in the humanitarian field, underlining the need to intensify its efforts to increase the health response with the aim of meeting the needs in a way that preserve the citizens’ health.

For his part, Maurer, hailed the support provided by the Syrian State to the committee, underlining willingness to expand the domains of the humanitarian cooperation and readiness to exert every single effort to secure the required needs.
