EU decides to impose sanctions on the Turkish regime

Brussels, SANA_  Leaders and heads of governments of the EU member states decided at their meeting in Brussels to impose sanctions on the Turkish regime for its illegal and aggressive violations in the eastern Mediterranean.

“The measures that have been approved will be individual sanctions, and additional measures can be taken if Turkey continues its work,” Agence France-Presse quoted a diplomat as saying.

The diplomat added that a list of names will be put  in the coming weeks and presented to member states for approval in accordance with the recommendations adopted by the Summit of 27 countries in Brussels.

The source said that EU leaders have authorized the EU Foreign Minister Josep Burrell to inform them before March 2021 on the development of the situation and, if necessary, propose an extension of the sanctions to include the names of new personalities or companies, adding that “the idea is to gradually tighten the noose around  the Turkish regime.
