Russian Foreign Ministry expresses deepest condolences on death of Minister al-Moallem

Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Ministry expressed sincerest condolences on the death of Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem.

In a statement to journalists, Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said “It is a very sad news… Russia lost a very close friend in the Arab World who was a reliable partner and a knowledgeable and experienced diplomat and politician.”

Bogdanov noted that al-Moallem had many visits to Moscow and that he personally had a lot of friendliness and respect for him over 40 years of intense communication with him when he worked in Damascus and when al-Moallem was still Ambassador to Washington.

Bogdanov expressed sincerest condolences to al-Moallem’s children and wife to all the Syrians on this loss.
