Lavrov discusses with German counterpart coercive economic measures against Syria

Moscow, SANA- Russian Minister of Foreign Affair, Sergey Lavrov, discussed with his German counterpart, Heiko Maas, the unilateral illegal coercive measures imposed on Syria and means of providing humanitarian assistance without preconditions.

RT website quoted Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement on Tuesday that the two ministers affirmed during a phone call that the solution to the crisis in Syria can’t be realized except through a political process led by the Syrians themselves with UN support, based on commitment to Syrian Sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

Lavrov pointed out to the negative consequences   of illegal, economic measures imposed on Syria by the US and the EU which still remain although the call of the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to decrease the unilateral measures in light of coronavirus pandemic.

According to the statement, the phone talks dealt with issues of providing   humanitarian assistance to all Syrians without politicization.
