Indonesian Embassy in Damascus marks 74th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence

Damascus, SANA- The Indonesian Embassy in Damascus has held a reception ceremony marking the 74th anniversary of its independence at the Damascus-based Dama Rose Hotel.

In a speech during the ceremony, Indonesian Ambassador in Damascus Wajid Fauzi expressed his country’s willingness to invigorate relations between the two countries.

Fauzi indicated that the Indonesian hasn’t stopped to provide its service throughout the years of its diplomatic representation in Damascus and it has continued to hold various activities in a way that serves the interests of the Syrian and Indonesian peoples.

The Indonesian Ambassador noted that Indonesia stood by Syria 74 years ago in its struggle to gain its independence, expressing hope that Syria will get out of the crisis which it has went through over the past years.

For his part, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad, reaffirmed the deep-rootedness of the friendly relations binding the two countries from more than 72 years through which the two countries have supported each other with regard to different issues which are related to their peoples.

Mikdad added that Syria supported Indonesia in the late forties of the past century while Indonesia has supported Syria in its war against terrorism.

A number of the folkloric Indonesian dances were performed during the reception ceremony to express welcome to the guests and the spirit of brotherhood, cooperation, harmony and friendship among human beings.
