Syria, Iran to boost strategic cooperation in electricity field

Tehran, SANA-Electricity Minister, Mohammad Zouheir Kharboutli, discussed on Wednesday with Iranian energy Minister, Reza Ardakanian, means of boosting strategic cooperation between Syria and Iran in the field of electricity.

During the meeting, Minister Kharboutli stressed the need for establishing strategic partnership between the two countries in the field of electricity and electrical industry, power requirements of cables and generation stations.

He hailed the important positive role played by Iranian companies in making the electrical system in Syria stable, and the projects carried out by Iranian MABNA group.

The Iranian Minister, for his part, said his ministry is always ready for complete cooperation with electricity Ministry in Syria to achieve a remarkable step that promotes up to the level of political cooperation and strategic relation between the two countries.

Syrian Ambassador, Adnan Mahmoud, for his part, said the two countries are seeking to find a complete partnership, not only in electricity domain, but in the industrial and productive sides to consolidate achievements gained by Syria and Iran and face the blockade and economic siege imposed on both states.
