Egyptian Foreign Minister underlines importance of combating terrorism in Syria

New York, SANA- Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry underlined the importance of combating terrorist organizations in Syria and of holding the regional states which support and sponsor these organizations responsible for these acts.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s Official Spokesperson Ahmad Hafez said in a statement on Saturday that during a meeting with UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen on sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Shoukry affirmed Egypt’s keenness on providing all aspects of support to the efforts of solving the crisis in Syria and restoring security and stability to the country.

Shoukry asserted “the importance of working on combating terrorism and the extremist organizations in Syria and confronting the danger of the flow of foreign fighters from their strongholds, particularly in Idleb area.”

He also called for holding the regional states which support and sponsor terrorist groups in Syria accountable for their acts.

Few days ago, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry called upon the international community to hold head of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyip Erdogan responsible for his crimes, particularly his support to terrorists in Syria and the region in contradiction with the Security Council’s resolutions, and for his crimes against his people.
