Moscow, SANA- During a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in the Russian city of Sochi on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed the necessity of preserving Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov was quoted by Russian Today Website as saying in a statement after attending the meeting between Putin and Pompeo that the two sides mostly focused on international issues at the talks.
The situation in Syria was among the topics discussed at the talks between Putin and Pompeo, Ushakov said, adding that President Putin underlined the importance of preserving Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Ushakov added that Putin affirmed to Pompeo that Russia is ready to resume dialogue on all issues of strategic stability and the issues of disarmament and non-proliferation [of weapons of mass destruction] and pressing regional issues.
