Mikdad: importance of considering neutrality while doing humanitarian acts

Damascus, SANA-Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad affirmed the necessity of continued cooperation between the Syrian government and UN Refugees Agency during the terrorist war on Syria.

Mikdad, meeting Volker Türk, the assistant High Commissioner for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), pointed out to the importance of taking into consideration the principle of independence and neutrality when dealing with human acts and keeping away from politicization.

“The Syrian government always does its best to facilitate the return of the displaced to their home,” Mikdad added.

Turk, for his part, appreciated the Syrian long-term cooperation with the UNHCR and the outcomes reached by the two sides in performing their humanitarian duties.

He affirmed that the international organization will cooperate with the Syrian government to ensure a honorable return for the refugees.
