Masterpieces belonging to Roman Era showcased in Shahba Museum

Sweida, SANA – Shaba Museum is located in the city of Shahba in Sweida Province. It showcases a lot of archeological antiquities that date back to different historical eras, the most prominent of which, the reign of the Roman Emperor Philip the Arab (‎February 244 – September 249) son of Shahba city.

The Museum embraces masterpieces of stone mosaics such as “Dionysus Bacchus” and other mosaics that depict gods, nymphs and other topics using animal and plant decorations. A statue of Philip’s head that is made from ivory white marble is also showcased.
