Damascus, SANA- Russian Embassy in Damascus held a reception marking the centenary of the Russian Army Day at the Damascus-based Dama Rose Hotel.
Head of Hmeimim –based Russian Coordination Center, Major-General Yury Yevtushenko, said in his speech at the reception on Wednesday that the officers and soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces will continue carrying out the combat tasks assigned to them to eliminate the international terrorism.
Yevtushenko indicated that the Russian Armed Forces helped the peoples of the brotherly countries, including the people of the Syrian Arab Republic; as they are, at the same time, defending the Russian national interests.
In his speech, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, said that the soldiers of the Syrian and Russian armies have united in fighting terrorism, noting that the message of the Russian Army since its establishment in 1918 till now has been always a message of security, peace and stability for all the peoples of the world.
Mikdad expressed Syria’s pride in the friendly and brotherly relation binding the peoples and armies of Syria and Russia, which were led by the Presidents of the two countries Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin.
He congratulated the soldiers, officers and commanders of the Russian army, hailing the sacrifices of the Russian martyrs in defending Syria and the just issues all over the world.
