Damascus, SANA – Prime Minister Imad Khamis stressed the need to coordinate between the Exporters’ Union and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry to develop a joint vision for upgrading local industry, providing their requirements, organizing joint expos in different Syrian provinces and presenting high-quality product.
Khamis made his remarks during a visit to the 4th Khan al-Harir for fashion and textiles expo, organized by Aleppo Industry Chamber in cooperation with Ministry of Industry, the Economy and Foreign Trade Ministry and the Local Production and Exports Support and Development Agency at the Damascus New Fairground City.
He called upon industrialists and businessmen to provide the government with clear and accurate information about the situation of their production processes in order to establish a correct database to take necessary action to overcome difficulties.
The number of visitors increased 5 times in comparison to the previous editions.
The participating industrialists said that the locally-made products constituted the large share of exhibits providing evidence on the recovery of local industry, calling upon the government to continue its support to re-operate factories, organize internal and external exhibitions and attract expatriate businessmen to make investments in their homeland.
In a statement to journalists, Premier Khamis underlined governmental efforts to confront difficulties and challenges accompanying the unjust economic sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.
He noted that these exhibitions are meant to convey a message to the world that the recovery of production process in Syria would have not been possible without the Syrian army’s victories and the Syrian people’s determination to upgrade the national economy.
For his part, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Samer al-Khalil noted that the visit aims at meeting the industrialists and listening to their demands in order to develop the industrial sector.
