Update-Shaaban: Syria always willing to participate in any forum or dialogue that could spare Syrian lives

Damascus, SANA – Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban affirmed that Syria has always been willing to participate in any forum or dialogue that could spare Syrian lives.

In a press statement on Tuesday following a meeting with the delegation from the British House of Lords and the Anglican Church which is currently visiting Syria, Shaaban said that the Syrian government is not subject to extortion and to the lies propagated by those who lurk Syria and who are part of the Zionist plan for the region.

Shaaban pointed out to the policies adopted by some Western countries in supporting the terrorist organizations such as the Daesh (ISIS) and Jabhat al-Nusra, considering that it is neither in the interest of the West nor the world to support terrorism, which is a serious plague against humanity.

The Advisor stressed that all countries of the world must stand by Syria and support it to defeat terrorism, as terrorism could affect everyone in the future, saying that Britain should reconsider its policy towards Syria and the region, calling on Western people to raise their voices and stand up against the wrong policies of their governments.

She stressed that the visit of the delegation is important for communication between the British and Syrian people in order to break the media blackout and distortion that tries to falsify facts, adding that such visits have become an essential way to learn about the reality of what is happening on the ground and deliver it to the world.

Shaaban pointed out that the visits of such delegations is the result of the steadfastness of Syria, its people, and army, as the world realized that the war will end with Syria’s victory over terrorism and all those who targeted it.

In turn, Member of British House of Lords Caroline Cox said that Syria has begun to recover and most of its territory has been purged from Daesh terrorist organization, stressing that the positions of the British people towards Syria are not identical with the positions of their government.

Other members of the delegation affirmed their desire to know the facts that the Syrians want to deliver to Western society, expressing their support for the Syrian people in the fight against terrorism, affirming that they reject their country’s policy towards Syria.

They also put forward many questions that they would like to provide answers for to the House of Lords and the British Parliament and asked to be provided with documents that prove their country’s support for the so-called “opposition” and the extent of this support.

Later on the day, the delegation met Minister of Religious Endowments (Awqaf) Mohammad Abdelsattar al-Sayyed who affirmed that Syria has been subjected during the years of crisis to terrorism which is not linked to Islam, but to the extremist Wahhabi thought.

In turn, former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord and the Member of the House of Lords Carey of Clifton affirmed that Syria has always been an open and receptive country, adding that the time has come for the international community to listen to the wishes of the Syrian people.

The delegation also met Grand Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun.
